Nous nous sommes récemment entretenus avec les personnes représentantes de deux organisations communautaires qui aident à réduire les barrières à l’activité physique<\/a> et au sport, et qui participeront en juin au Défi Ensemble, on bouge de ParticipACTION de 2025, présenté par Novo Nordisk<\/a> : le Club de canoë marathon de Régina (RMCC) <\/b><\/span><\/a>et la Legacy Baton Academy<\/b><\/span><\/a> (LBA)<\/b>. Le RMCC <\/b>est un groupe communautaire local et sans but lucratif qui encourage l’activité physique et l’excellence personnelle grâce au canoë marathon de longue distance à Régina et les environs, en Saskatchewan.  <\/span><\/p>\n

La Legacy Baton Academy (LBA) <\/b>offre des cours de maniement du bâton de majorette (un sport qui combine la danse, la gymnastique et la manipulation d’une tige métallique) aux athlètes de niveaux récréatifs, compétitifs et élites de Winnipeg, au Manitoba.  <\/span><\/p>\n

« Twirling to End Isolation (tournoyer pour mettre fin à l’isolation) est un programme d’exercices interactif qui enseigne les habiletés de base du maniement du bâton de majorette dans les centres communautaires, les écoles et les résidences de soins de longue durée à Winnipeg », a expliqué Kristin <\/span>Macaraeg<\/span>, directrice et <\/span>entraîneure<\/span> en chef de la <\/span>Legacy<\/span> Baton<\/span> Academy<\/span>. « Le programme est axé sur l’amélioration de la flexibilité<\/a> et de la mobilité des personnes participantes, en plus de faire la promotion de l’activité physique à long terme, et ce, tout en rassemblant les gens pour réduire l’isolement social. »<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

« Notre programme Twirling to End Isolation a été mis au point pour aborder le problème de l’isolement social et du sentiment de solitude chez les personnes aînées de Winnipeg », a déclaré Kristin. « Le maniement du bâton est non seulement une forme “d’exercice déguisé”, mais c’est aussi une activité rassembleuse durant laquelle les gens bougent en groupe, alors on s’est dit que ça serait une excellente façon pour les personnes âgées de rester actives tout en tissant des liens avec les autres. » <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

« Notre programme offre l’occasion aux personnes nouvellement arrivées au Canada de profiter du plein air et d’explorer les parcs et les cours d’eau de la Saskatchewan, tout en prenant part à une activité à faible impact, et ce, gratuitement ou à faible coût », a dit Scott. « Elles acquièrent non seulement des compétences en canoë, mais aussi des connaissances sur les règles générales de sécurité nautique, comme la manière de bien revêtir un vêtement de flottaison individuel (VFI), la différence entre un VFI et un gilet de sauvetage, les méthodes sécuritaires pour soulever et transporter une embarcation nautique, et l’observation des vents et des conditions météorologiques pour savoir quand il est sécuritaire de sortir en canoë. »<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

 « Notre<\/span><\/span> New Canadians Canoe Program<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/a> (programme de canoë pour les personnes nouvellement arrivées au Canada) en est à sa sixième année! Ce programme, qui est destiné aux personnes vivant au Canada depuis moins de cinq ans, enseigne la sécurité nautique, les techniques de navigation, la terminologie et les habiletés fondamentales du canoë, ainsi que la signification historique et culturelle de ce sport canadien emblématique », nous a expliqué Scott <\/span>Brunskill<\/span>, entraîneur et coordonnateur au RMCC. « Grâce à ce programme, on espère diversifier davantage la clientèle du RMCC et encourager les personnes nouvellement arrivées au Canada à continuer à faire du canoë même après avoir terminé le programme. »<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
